ABOUT THE ELKS
The Hackensack Elks
Elks Lodges bring so much more to their communities than just a building. They are places where neighbors come together, families share meals, and children grow up.
Elks invest in their communities through programs that help children grow up healthy and drug-free, meet the needs of today’s veterans, and improve the quality of life for their overall community.
The Hackensack Elks have been active members of the community since 1904! Through our charitable work we annually provide outings to children of the community, support our local food pantries, award college scholarships to High School seniors, support our youth recreation programs, host leadership programs for middle and high school students, provide resources to local mothers and children in need, run programs for our veterans, support our active servicemembers with care packages, and so much more.
One of our passion projects is bringing resources to the children of our community and advancing literacy. This project started with the hosting of two community baby showers in conjunction with the Johnson Public Library where expectant and new mothers were provided with baby supplies while introduced to the resources of the library and community social programs available to them. We followed up with a coat distribution to introduce young children to the resources of the library; and then the installation of reading nooks in local laundromats so children had reading materials available when their parents were at the laundromat. Today, our passion project has grown to the HELLO program that we are so proud of implementing.
